NBC, iTunes Kiss and Make Up

After a lover’s spat drove them apart, NBC and iTunes have rejoined forces in a deal that will return shows such as “The Office,” “Heroes,” “30 Rock,” “Battlestar Galactica” and others to Apple’s popular download site.

Apple also announced today that iTunes, just in time for the new fall season, will make TV shows available in glorious HD (in the past, only movies were offered in the format). The cost will be $2.99 an episode.

The NBC moratorium on iTunes was a real bummer, because it not only prevented us from access to shows from the Peacock, but from its cable family, including USA, Sci-Fi and Bravo.

Thus, the reconciliation between the two companies is great news for TV fans, including my oldest son, David, who recently moved into the dorms at Cal, where he has no television and was desperately wondering how he would get to see his favorite sitcom, “The Office.”
